Been some time, May 20th 2001, since I've posted anything. That was the start of rebuilding. Read it! Since then, I've been in contact my special friend and brother,Peter The Blacksmith and Odar and some other members of the Savage site asking for help.If it wasn't for Peter, I'd never be where I am now. I would have sold my bike!! Before I begin chapter 2 I'd like to say to all those riders that think this is suppose to be a site for tech. questions, your wrong. This is a family site where you can go and get help no matter how many times the question comes up. For the new comers, before you ask, scroll down the complete forum. !00% you will find the answer. For the lazy ones, oh well, ask again. Someone will tell you a date on this forum where you can find an answer. As for my bike, asked the local japanese mech.(good friend of mine and is an all around fix anything mech), can you take my bike apart so I can get it chromed? Yes. Started taking apart. Is this good enough? No. More apart. His specialty is dirt bikes. Has a riding team. What it finally came down to, my bike was in pieces. Had to buy special tools to take the the bike down to nuts and bolts. All of you savage owners, look at your bike, anything that you see on your bike that is not chromed, I had chromed. I wanted the bike taken apart. And thats what he did. He got more involved then he expected, but he did it. Now my bike was a basket case! Contacted Brown's Plating Companing and told them I'm sending my parts to them to get chromed. This was June 2002. Took bike frame and had it painted same color as the fenders and tank which was done earlier. Brown's did the job and sent back all the parts. Everything was ok until the mech found the cylinder sleeve was cracked! Post office busted it? I think not. Shit! Now I needed to find a company to fix the sleeve. Found it. Sent it. They got it and the fins were busted. Yes the american postal service sucks and at this point I was totally pissed. Trying to get my money back from the postal service. In the mean time bought a new cylinder. Is this dedication to my bike or what? In Japan thats 700.00 dollars. As I'm writing this, 23 Dec 2002, the mech's are putting the bike together. Pictures will follow later from the bigining of this project to the end results , but not at this time. As they say, pictures tell the story. I can say at this time, that the bike looks soooo good now, but once its all together, there are the owners touches that need to be done.I have always loved knights and dragons since childhood, and my bike will look that way when I'm done. I know this may seem like a long post but for that someone that is going to do the same thing, I just wanted to let them know the problems that you may inncounter while customizing you bike. My bike will be 75% completed this year, but in the spring of 2003, my bike will be completly done. Anyone that is thinking of doing the same thing and has questions, please fill free to contact me. All I know is that I WILL Have THE BEST SAVAGE IN JAPAN when I'm done. Odar, thanks for the pictures on your site, gave me the ideas, and thanks for your personal help when I needed it. Peter The Blacksmith, there are no words that I can express from all the help you gave me. Contact me!!!! Chapter 3 will follow next year. More pictures will follow.
